India-UK Healthcare Scholarships 2026-27 at King’s College London
Indian students aspiring to build a successful career in healthcare innovation and medical technology now have an exceptional international opportunity through the newly announced India-UK Healthcare Scholarships 2026-27. The prestigious scholarship initiative is a collaborative effort between the Hinduja Foundation and King’s College London, one of the United Kingdom’s leading universities known for excellence in healthcare education and biomedical research.
The scholarship programme has been introduced with the vision of strengthening healthcare systems in both India and the UK by supporting talented Indian students in advanced medical and healthcare-related studies. Through this strategic partnership, eligible Indian students can pursue fully funded PhD programmes and partially funded MSc programmes in healthcare technologies and medical innovation.
The Hinduja Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the globally renowned Hinduja Group, partnered with King’s College London two years ago to create a long-term educational collaboration focused on healthcare training, innovation, and research. The initiative aims to improve healthcare outcomes while empowering future healthcare professionals, clinicians, biomedical engineers, and innovators from India.
As part of the 2026-27 academic intake beginning in October 2026, applications are now open for four PhD scholarships and five MSc scholarships. The PhD programmes are offered through the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King’s College London and focus on advanced healthcare technologies. Meanwhile, the MSc programme is offered in MedTech Innovation and Entrepreneurship, designed for students interested in healthcare technology development, innovation, and medical entrepreneurship.
The scholarships are specifically available for Indian students who are domiciled in India and demonstrate strong academic backgrounds. Candidates applying for the PhD programme are generally expected to have qualifications in engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or related technical disciplines. The MSc scholarships are suitable for Indian clinicians, biomedical graduates, and students interested in healthcare innovation and medical technology.
One of the major highlights of the scholarship is the tuition fee support provided to selected students. The programme includes both full and partial tuition fee coverage. While one MSc scholarship covers up to 80 percent of international tuition fees, four additional MSc scholarships provide 50 percent tuition fee support. Selected PhD students may receive full funding for the four-year doctoral programme depending on eligibility and selection criteria.
However, applicants should note that the scholarship funding does not include travel expenses, visa application fees, flights, accommodation, or the UK International Healthcare Surcharge. Students will need to independently manage these additional costs while studying in the UK.
According to Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of the Hinduja Foundation, the initiative reflects the organisation’s philosophy of “Act Local, Think Global.” He emphasized that investing in future-ready healthcare talent is essential for building resilient healthcare systems in India that align with global standards and contribute toward the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
The partnership also supports the Hinduja-King’s Health Partners Academy, which focuses on advancing healthcare education, clinical training, biomedical innovation, and impactful medical research between India and the UK. Through this collaboration, Indian students gain access to world-class expertise, cutting-edge healthcare technologies, and real-world clinical environments that can help them contribute significantly to the future of healthcare globally.
King’s College London has highlighted that the scholarship initiative aims to empower Indian students with innovation-led learning and exposure to advanced medical systems. Scholars will have opportunities to participate in high-level healthcare research and technological development while studying at one of the most respected healthcare institutions in the world.
The programme has already shown successful outcomes. In the previous academic cycle, three PhD scholars and two MSc scholars commenced their studies at King’s College London in October, while one additional PhD scholar joined in February 2026. With the opening of the 2026-27 applications, the partnership continues to expand opportunities for Indian students in healthcare and biomedical sciences.
The Hinduja Group, operating across 38 countries, has investments in sectors such as healthcare, digital technology, banking, energy, mobility, and media. Established in Mumbai in 1968, the Hinduja Foundation continues to support initiatives in education, healthcare, water stewardship, social welfare, rural development, arts, and sports.
For Indian students looking to pursue international healthcare education, research, and innovation, the India-UK Healthcare Scholarships 2026-27 offer a remarkable opportunity to study at King’s College London with substantial financial support and global exposure. The programme not only supports academic excellence but also aims to create future healthcare leaders capable of addressing critical medical challenges in India and around the world.
